🏕️ Why We Chose the Jayco 32BHDS
The 32BHDS is a double-slide, bunkhouse travel trailer with a layout that checks all the family boxes:
- Separate kids’ space? ✅
- Outdoor kitchen? ✅
- Tons of storage? ✅
- Room to actually move around inside? ✅✅✅
At just over 36 feet long and roughly 7,800 lbs dry, this trailer feels like a small cabin on wheels—but is still towable by a half-ton or three-quarter-ton truck (depending on your setup).
🚪 Exterior Highlights
Let’s start outside—because honestly, the outside features on this rig are a big part of what sold us.
1. Outdoor Kitchen
This is a game changer for families. With a mini fridge, sink, and pull-out cooktop, the outdoor kitchen makes breakfast or evening hot dogs way easier. Bonus: less mess (and fewer crumbs) inside.
2. Dual Entry Doors
One door goes into the main living space, and the other leads directly to the bathroom—perfect for muddy kids or quick pit stops without tracking dirt inside.
3. Power Awning with LED Lights
The push-button awning is huge and sturdy, and the lights make it cozy for night hangouts. We love this feature for those late-night s’mores and card games at the picnic table.
4. Pass-Through Storage
You get a ton of room for hoses, leveling blocks, bins, and random camp gear. It’s easy to access and keeps things tidy.
5. Enclosed Underbelly
Helps extend your camping season with some extra insulation and protection underneath the trailer.
🛋️ Interior Layout and Features
Step inside, and the 32BHDS really starts to show off.
1. Living & Kitchen Space
You walk into a large open area with a jackknife sofa and U-shaped dinette—both of which convert to beds. There’s tons of space to move around, especially with the large slide-out.
The kitchen includes:
- Double sink
- Three-burner gas stove & oven
- Microwave
- 8 cu. ft. gas/electric refrigerator
- Plenty of cabinet and pantry storage
Everything feels solid—Jayco uses real wood cabinets and nice hardware. It doesn’t feel “plasticky” like some other models we toured.
2. Entertainment Center
Positioned directly across from the sofa is a built-in entertainment center with space for a large TV, Bluetooth stereo, and storage cubbies for games or remotes.
3. Master Bedroom
At the front of the trailer is a private queen bedroom, with wardrobes on both sides, overhead storage, and a solid sliding door for privacy. There’s also under-bed storage if you need extra room for bedding or shoes.
4. Bathroom
This full bath includes a tub/shower combo, vanity, mirror, and foot-flush toilet. The second exterior entry makes this a clutch feature with kids—less mess inside, and easy bathroom breaks when you’re outside all day.
5. Rear Bunkhouse
This is the big win for families. The rear bunkhouse room has:
- Two twin bunks
- A convertible J-cube sofa (can be another sleeping area)
- Closet storage
- TV hook-up
It gives kids their own space to chill, play, or crash for the night. And it gives parents some peace and quiet up front.
🎯 Our Favorite Features
- The separate kids’ room means real privacy and sanity for parents.
- The outdoor kitchen reduces traffic and heat inside the trailer.
- Storage—in the bunkhouse, in the master, under the dinette, everywhere.
- The double entry doors are pure convenience.
🔧 Things to Keep in Mind
- At nearly 9,000 lbs loaded, make sure your tow vehicle is rated properly.
- It’s a long trailer, so if you’re new to towing, you’ll want a good weight distribution hitch and sway control.
- The bunk mattresses aren’t super plush—adding a foam topper is a great upgrade.
🛻 Is the 32BHDS Right for You?
If you’re a family with 2+ kids or like to camp with friends, this trailer gives everyone room to breathe. It’s perfect for weekend trips, longer stays, and especially seasonal sites where you want to feel a little more “at home” without going full fifth wheel.
It balances comfort, storage, and price better than almost anything else in its class.
